You see - I think this is a great idea. Apart from just being funny, that is. He's (she's?) exactly right: pretty much all so-called seminal events are just hype that snowballed. Essentially the idea is that we accept humanity the way it is, just as humanity's herders do - in other words, we stop handicapping ourselves for the battle - and just head the flock in some or other useful direction, relying on sheer inertia, rather than conviction. Sure, when we get there it won't be anywhere near as good as if we'd all chosen consciously...but it will be better than now. End of discussion.
