OUP & Ethics

I recently bought a copy of The Nicomachean Ethics at a used bookstore. The book was new, cost me 50 rand, published by Oxford University Press, and had the suggested retail price of US$8.99. A quarter of the way through the book, pages started to fall out because of the world's cheapest glue. Maybe the good folks at OUP should read books on ethics before they sell them. Raymond Chandler summed it up with:

"Funny thing, civilization. It promises so much and what it delivers is mass production of shoddy merchandise and shoddy people."
